Take action on climate change with our Green Pension Pledge

Many business owners are putting time and resources into making their companies more sustainable, or even achieve Net Zero in their operations – whether it’s by reducing emissions, rethinking their travel policies, or reviewing their supply chains.

However, by overlooking their workplace pension schemes, they could be undermining all of these positive steps by funding fossil fuels, oil and gas, and other polluting industries.

With this in mind, we’re proud to announce the launch of our Green Pension Pledge & Certification scheme. Our aim is to help businesses more easily make the switch to a sustainable workplace pension scheme, helping employees to have a positive impact on the world with their savings.

Path’s Green Pension Pledge & Certification service helps businesses to ensure that their pension scheme invests in companies and funds that will help the UK reach its Net Zero targets – reducing CO2 and pollution by investing in renewable energy, clean water, recycling, education, healthcare, and more.

Businesses who sign up to the pledge will receive a number of free services, including:

  • An initial consultation;
  • Presentation to board, leadership or pension plan stakeholders;
  • A company pension provision review and findings report;
  • Free consultations and discounted financial planning fees for employees;
  • Path’s Green Pension Pledge toolkit.

If you work with a purpose-led businesses that wants to remain competitive, attract new talent and boost its sustainable credentials, then you should consider our Green Pension Pledge. By signing up, you are showing that you are taking climate change seriously, encouraging more of your staff to engage with their future financial independence and the impact they have on the world.

With rising concerns about the climate crisis – particularly following the recent heatwaves and flash flooding – employees are demanding genuine climate action from their workplaces. People are scrutinising their employer’s climate impact and making career choices based on environmental credentials.

This is particularly true of younger generations concerned about the climate crisis – according to Make My Money Matter, 72% of 18–24-year-olds want their pension to actively fight against climate change. They want to work with companies with strong values, where sustainability is front and centre.

If you are an employee, keen to encourage your organisation to sign up, you can enter your company’s details on our website to have details of the Green Pension Pledge scheme sent to your business for awareness and consideration – all anonymously
