Our founder, David, is named a finalist in this year’s Great British Entrepreneur Awards

Earlier this month, we received the fantastic news that our founder, David Macdonald, has been named a finalist in this year’s Great British Entrepreneur Awards.

He has been shortlisted in the Sustainability Entrepreneur of the Year category – which is new for 2021 and attracted over 4,800 entrants from across the UK, with only a small number chosen as finalists for their region.

Launched in 2012, The Great British Entrepreneur Awards creates a platform that celebrates and champions the brilliant entrepreneurs behind Britain’s best businesses with previous winners including the founders of TALA, Bulb Energy, Pip & Nut and Bplasticfree.

This shortlisting comes as welcome recognition of David’s achievements over the past two years; from setting up Path Financial in 2019 at a time when no one was really talking about impact investment, let alone doing anything about it, to building it into the go-to ethical finance firm that it is today.

Because of his hard work, Path Financial is now a 15-strong team of passionate and purposeful financial advisors and paraplanners – each working towards one common cause of helping the public to make the sustainable switch with their pensions and investments.

As a company, we have also helped hundreds of families, couples and individuals to move their money from conventional funds, that could be propping up exploitative and damaging industries, to portfolios that are actively supporting solutions to the world’s problems, focusing on themes such as green technologies, reforestation and clean water.

When speaking about the news, David said:

I’m honoured to have been chosen by the judges as a finalist in this year’s Great British Entrepreneur Awards, and to be representing the region of the South East in this way.

While the events of the past year have been a real wake-up call for so many people – giving them time to really think about the impact they have on the planet and the ways they can reduce their carbon footprint – recent research by Make My Money Matter has shown that switching pensions has up to 21x more impact than all other carbon reduction lifestyle changes combined.

So, it’s brilliant for these awards to be going ahead, bringing people together and celebrating the hard work of teams all around the country as we look at how we can build back better.

The national winners of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards will be announced in November of this year, so please keep an eye out for more news on this and wish David luck!
