Our green financial advisers: Investing in your – and the planet’s – future
Take the planet’s future in your hands and make your money matter by going green with your investments.
At The Path, we can help you to take control of your money and make investments that truly count.
Our ‘green IFAs’ work with you to align with your values and invest in clean and sustainable companies that are a positive force for change for the environment. Better still, you can ‘do well by doing good’: evidence shows aligning your money with positive sustainability goals also produces superior investment returns.
We are the first financial advisers set up in the UK specifically to tackle the climate crisis. And we believe investing your money in a way that helps the climate is one of the biggest differences to climate change that any individual can make. Let’s build a better world together.
Our Difference: Positive Impact Investment and Green Investment vs. Ethical
If you want to invest your money in a way that will help the climate crisis it’s important to know the difference between impact and green investments, and ethical investments.
An ‘ethical’ investment aims to achieve positive returns while screening out companies involved in harmful or exploitative activities. Ethical investing generally excludes investments such as alcohol, tobacco, armaments, gambling and pornography. However, polluting companies that cause damage to the environment are often seen as acceptable in ethical investment portfolios.
What if, unknown to you, an ethical investment was in a company actively contributing to the climate emergency? At The Path, we offer our customers – and the climate – a better solution.
Green and Positive Impact Investments take place within an ethical framework, not only excluding companies that have a negative impact, but purposefully investing with environmentally and socially responsible companies and funds contributing to a sustainable future.
We can help you to clearly understand your investment options, take control of your money and invest it in line with your ethical values.
Why our green investments make good financial sense
It seems to us that disinvesting from damaging and destructive is the only moral and practical choice. But far more impactful beyond that is investing that money into greener companies. There’s no need to sacrifice performance whilst making a positive impact through your investments.
We think investing in a ‘green’ way where it will make a difference to the climate crisis makes good financial sense. Financial returns will only increase as concern about the climate intensifies. You will generally be exposed to investment in companies that are part of the solution and will be avoiding investments in companies that are part of the problem. So you will be aligned to the companies that are positioned for success and avoid those that are doomed to fail. It seems likely that financial returns will only increase as concern about the climate intensifies. For more on this see our blogs page.
The returns we offer are comparable to conventional funds. And we would expect the risks of investing where funds are causing damage to the environment will only increase in the coming months or years, meaning it makes sense to look sooner rather than later at having investments that help the climate; rather than harm it.
Why should you have a green financial adviser?
You invest for your future, so wouldn’t you invest in the planet’s? If you make the decision to invest in a greener future – how do you know where to invest?
Many people’s savings and investments are invested in FTSE 100 companies. But it’s widely recognised that a third of these stocks are damaging to the environment. For most people, it’s impossible to know which companies are contributing to the climate crisis and which are actively doing the climate good.
That’s where we come in. Our specialist IFAs carry out the research for you. They make it their business to be experts in the funds that invest in sustainable companies, investing in the very latest from green energy, fuel and battery research, re-cycling and up-cycling that pass our social, environmental and ethical tests.
This in-depth knowledge and passion makes our green IFAs a cut above other investment managers.
Unlike other ‘green’ financial advisers we only offer investments that help the climate crisis. It’s what we were set up for, what we believe in and the driving force of our business.
